Originally from Tilden, Texas, Carrales did not come from an agricultural back ground. She helped her family run a successful hunting business. Her grandparents had a small herd of cattle, and that’s what Carrales attributes where her passion for cattle started. She was valedictorian of her class and was very active in Future Farmers of America (FFA) showing cattle and hogs. She later attended Blinn Jr. College where she was a member of the livestock judging team. She then went on to pursue her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M and was a member of the 2006 National Champion Livestock Judging Team. Carrales graduated in 2007 with a degree in animal science.
She is married to JoJo Carrales, vice president of cattle at HeartBrand Beef, and they have two children: Adalyn, six and Joseph, three.
Carrales said she invites those who are interested to serve the association in whatever capacity possible through trade shows, field days, or simply sharing close outs and carcass data with neighbors. Because together we are Akaushi
